Is Yoohoo Protect insurance?
No. Protect is the name for how the platform itself works: verification, money held safely, weekly approval, instant refunds before arrival, endings agreed upfront and a permanent record. It is not an insurance policy and it does not pay out claims.
When is my card actually charged?
A hold is placed on your card when you send an offer, and it is only charged if the au pair accepts. If they decline, counter, or the offer runs out after 48 hours, the hold disappears and you are charged nothing at all.
What happens if my au pair never arrives?
The week is refunded straight away, and the fee carries over to your next au pair, so you never pay it twice. Your listing reopens and we put verified au pairs who are free right now in front of you.
What does it cost?
$30 a week on top of $300 pocket money, so $330 a week in total for a standard placement. Nothing upfront, nothing to subscribe to, and charges only run while an au pair is actually with you.
What if we have a problem mid placement?
Raise it in the app. The week in question is held while it is looked at, both sides see what was logged, and the whole history of the placement is already attached. If it cannot be resolved, either side can end the placement under the ladder on the agreement.
Can we just swap numbers and sort it out ourselves?
Contact details stay private for the life of the placement, and that is the point. Everything decisive happens in the app: the call, the offer, the agreement, the money and the record. That is what makes the protections above possible at all.
What if there is an emergency?
Call 000. Protect is not an emergency service. For anything criminal, contact the police: we preserve the record and cooperate fully with any investigation.
